Ayesha Jhulka, one of Bollywood's most popular heroines in the 90s, also weaved her magic in several Bengali, Telugu, and Kannada films. Ayesha Jhulka worked with some of the biggest superstars in films like Kurbaan (), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (), Khiladi (), and Meherbaan (), among others but, at the peak of her career, Ayesha Jhulka quit films.

The actress was in a relationship with Armaan Kohli, her co-star in Kohra () and Anaam (), and their break up was part of the reason why she stopped signing any more films. 

Media reports at the time claimed that Ayesha Jhulka and Armaan Kohli were engaged to be married but their relationship did not last long, leading to the downfall of Ayesha Jhulka's career.

In one of her first interviews after the breakup, Ayesha Jhulka, in a conversation with Lehren, spoke about her disappearance from films and also her failed relationship with Armaan Kohli. When asked about her disappearance from the limelight for almost a year, Ayesha Jhulka said, "Maine filmein sign karna bandh kar diya tha kyuki main shaadi karne wali thi but there are no plans for marriage and I’m back here.

(I stopped signing films as I was going to get married but now, there are no marriage plans so I am back here)." 

When she was further prodded about her fiance and the reason for their break up, an innocent Ayesha Jhulka said, "Sabko pata hai kisse karne wali thi… Armaan se (Everyone knows it is Armaan Kohli)." Answering the question about why they broke up, Ayesha said, "Kuch nahi hua…", leaving fans curious about her personal life.

For the unversed, Armaan Kohli and Ayesha Jhulka’s love story was the talk of the town in the 90s.

Ayesha Jhulka was reportedly serious about Armaan, however, before they could tie the knot, Armaan reportedly fell for someone else, leading to their breakup. 

Ayesha Jhulka now does supporting roles in films and on OTT. She was last seen in the web series Happy Family: Conditions Apply (). Ayesha Jhulka has been married to construction tycoon Sameer Vashi since The couple decided not to have any children.
